Inlays/Onlays

A porcelain inlay or onlay is a restoration that we use to rebuild a tooth that has lost a significant amount of its tooth structure due to decay or trauma, or when there is a need for a stronger material, we recommend a porcelain inlay or onlay. It is similar to a dental filling but rather than being directly placed into your tooth and set, they are fabricated using our CEREC treatment at our ceramic studio within our dental practice. CEREC is a computer based restoration system to produce a precise porcelain inlay or onlay in one visit.

Porcelain inlays or onlays are the treatment of choice for a number of reasons. They are tooth coloured providing a natural look, and as they are stronger they are more durable for many years to come. It is totally biocompatible and the physical charachteristics of porcelain are as close to that of natural tooth structure that we can get.
